East of Marsh Harbour are the three "Loyalist Islets", Great Guana, Man-O-War and Elbow Cay. Elbow Cay, an 8 km long islet 10 km east of Marsh Harbour, is better known as Hope Town. Built in 1785 by Loyalist settlers and still inhabited by their descendants, this long village of 650 souls is charming, with an air of an operetta set. It stretches between the harbor and the ocean. The white wooden cottages, decorated with gingerbread lace, surrounded by delicate pastel-colored fences are like dollhouses. The gardens are full of plants with abundant brightly colored blooms
