The third largest city in the Bahamas and capital of the Abacos, Marsh Harbour occupies an isthmus in the middle of Great Abaco Island, within ferrying distance of the Loyalist Islands. Once prosperous thanks to sponges and shipyards, the small port has taken advantage of the more recent tourism boom and has quickly rebuilt itself after the passage of Dorian. It concentrates most of the tourist resources of the Abacos, airport, hotels, restaurants and stores. Marsh Harbour is also considered the easiest port of approach for boaters arriving in the Bahamas from the United States and there are many boats there.
