Travel Guide Reserva Provincial La Payunia

The La Payunia Provincial Reserve, also known as Reserva El Payén, is known for its superb volcanic cones and as proof: it is here that we find the largest concentration of volcanoes in the world! These giants their cones, their black sands and their lava flows on 450 000 ha. One counts in particular the famous Payún Matru at 3 715 m and Payún Liso at 3 680 m of altitude. If La Payunia, located in the south of the department of Malargüe, is administratively part of the province of Mendoza and the region of Cuyo, its climate and geography are already those of Patagonia.
