In 1922, only one person lived here as a Robinson, Paul Buck, a painter and violinist, no doubt inspired by the beauty of the surrounding nature. Ramsgate is a charming little coastal village located at the mouth of the Bilanhlolo River, named by the Zulus and meaning "the wonderful bubbling", because of the bubbles formed when the strong currents of the river and the ocean meet there. The beach can be reached via the Lawrence Rocks area or a little further north to Margate Beach or Margate North Beach. A few shops, guesthouses and restaurants provide a pleasant atmosphere in Ramsgate
