About 75 km north-east of Cape Town, the small town of Riebeek Kasteel was first discovered by Europeans in the 17th century and then inhabited a century later by the Boers. Today, it is mostly known and renowned for its gastronomy as well as for its good wines, a gastronomic and oenological tourism that attracts every year epicurean travelers and other culinary tourism enthusiasts. The church tower stands in the center of the city and all around it lies the beautiful valley of Riebeek Kasteel: fields as far as the eye can see and mountains on the horizon. In May, Riebeek Kasteel organizes an olive festival.
