Hatiheu is waiting for you about 20 km north of Taiohae (1h15 in 4x4). A statue of the Virgin has been erected at an altitude of 300 m on one of the basalt ridges overlooking the bay. A tohua and a platform decorated with sacred petroglyphs are located about 100 m from the shore, where traditional shows are sometimes given. A little further on, a meae has been built around a grandiose banyan tree. During your visit, don't miss the village's heritage room, which exhibits hundreds of ancient objects. Finally, Hatiheu has a dispensary (+689 40 920 143) and a good table, at Yvonne's, who also welcomes visitors in her pension.
