Rushing on about 5 km, Haamene bay is the deepest of Fenua. According to some, it could even be ranked among the most beautiful bays in the world; the landscapes are sublime! Boaters are not mistaken, they like to use it as an anchorage point. Haamene is an obligatory passageway to the north and south of the island and has a dispensary, a post office and a few places to eat, including the caravan Chez Marie and the snack bar Boukansa Chesta. The road leading to the bay of Hurepiti is superb: at the pass, the Belvedere of Vaiautea reveals a striking panorama on the two bays and on the peaks of the island.
