Located in Amavoa Bay, the small town of Fare is the main town of Huahine. It has a deep-water port and all the essential services, almost all of which are located on the only street lined with almond trees. Fare is the starting point for the Hawaiki Nui race every year, in a joyful and festive atmosphere. The rest of the year, it is very quiet! This is also where you will land. When a boat arrives in Fare Harbor, the islanders emerge from the shade of the almond and acacia trees in the village square to bustle about the docks. Trucks and pick-ups are transporting their loads of copra, pigs and taros for the day's market. There is a supernatural agitation! Then the boat leaves, and life goes on.
