This small town has kept the bohemian and artisanal spirit of yesteryear. A charming stop on your way north, or to discover at greater length if you have more time. Located at the confluence of three rivers, Susitna, Chulitna and Talkeetna, it owes its name to the latter. The town was established in 1919 in connection with the railway line. Today it offers many activities including rafting, kayaking and flightseeing to Denali. The town itself, with its colorful wooden houses and cabins with caribou antler doors, is very picturesque. It is nestled in a beautiful forest of fir trees. Craft stores line the main street. We appreciate a rustic and picturesque village atmosphere, which is not found everywhere in Alaska.
