A museum dedicated to the arts of the table, with a new exhibition every year. Housed in a hospice.
If you love Burgundy, then perhaps you also love French gastronomy and wine? If so, good news for you, because this museum, the only one of its kind in France, is not to be missed. It's a museum that explains the evolution of the art of the table in France, complete with collector's items. Housed in the Hospices Saint-Pierre, a 17th-century building surrounded by rose gardens, the museum is rich in history and unique exhibits. It presents remarkable exhibitions on the arts of the table. Each year, a new exhibition is presented: in 2025, it is entitled "Nivernaises en lumière: Splendeurs de la faïence et de la céramique" and runs from May1 to November 11 inclusive. This year's temporary exhibition showcases Guy Marin's superb private collection, with a particular focus on travel themes. Designed to inspire you to visit the 4 corners of the Nivernais region, this exhibition takes you back to the 17th century, when Nevers was the cradle of French earthenware. It's the perfect opportunity to explore the history of several local factories, from Clamecy to Saint-Honoré-les-Bains, not forgetting Moulin-Engilbert. Take advantage of your visit to Arnay-le-Duc to admire the museum's permanent exhibition of just over 6,000 pieces. It's all housed in an unusual location, appreciated for its calm and serenity.
