The Strandzha Natural Park covers more than 1,000 km2. It is the largest protected area in the country. It covers the Strandzha massif, a low mountain range near the Black Sea, and includes five nature reserves, not open to the public, fourteen protected sites and eight natural sites. The Black Sea bird migration route, the Via Pontica, passes over the park. With rugged karst landscapes, especially in the western part of the park, and beautiful hills, it is a good place for hiking. There are several villages and archaeological reserves worth visiting, including Brachlyan. Guides are available at the tourist offices.
