A unique archaeological site, which is based (among other things) around the Gallo-Roman remains and the statue of Vercingetorix.
Inaugurated in 2012, MuséoParc Alésia is the interpretation center dedicated to the battle of the same name, which saw Julius Caesar's victory over Vercingetorix in 52 BC. Completely modernized in 2021, its museography is immersive and accessible to all ages. You know nothing about the Gauls or the Battle of Alesia, but you're fascinated by history? Then MuséoParc Alésia is the ideal educational site for you. With its permanent exhibition, the site doesn't just focus on the decisive battle. The exhibition takes the clichés we all have about the Gauls and Romans as its starting point, deconstructing them as the visit progresses. You'll learn about the historical and geographical context in which the battle developed, and about the two protagonists and enemies: Vercingetorix and Julius Caesar. Discover how the two-month battle unfolded through workshops for all ages and the archaeological artefacts found on site. Find out how archaeology helps us understand the ancient period. More than just a museum, MuséoParc is a friendly place where everyone can learn while having fun. In 2025, its cultural program focuses on Julius Caesar, culminating in the temporary exhibition "Caesar, all roads lead to Rome! ". Opening time and information on MUSÉOPARC ALÉSIA
February 15 to March 31, 10am to 5pm; April, May and June, 10am to 6pm; July and August, 10am to 7pm; September and October, 10am to 6pm; November, 10am to 5pm. From February 8 to November 29, 2025. Admission for adults over 17: €9; children aged 7 to 17: €5.50 to €7.50; children under 7: free. Reduced rates of €7.50 (€9 during summer vacations) for students under 26, apprentices, adults with large families and jobseekers. Free admission on presentation of proof of entitlement at the ticket office: disabled persons + one accompanying person, RSA or minimum old-age pension recipients (statement for the month preceding the visit on presentation of ID card), teachers (valid education pass), tourism (MASCOT card) or museum professionals (ICOM card or Ministry of Culture card) and journalists (press card). Annual pass at €23 for adults, €19 for 10-17 year olds and €15 for 7-12 year olds.

A place of history and memory known to all, the site of Alesia is part of the national heritage since the famous battle between Caesar and Vercingetorix.
The Interpretation Center offers you a dynamic discovery of the siege of Alesia. Antique objects and facsimiles, diorama, films, models, multimedia terminals and reproductions of war machines give you the keys to understand the history of the site. User-friendliness and interactivity are part of the MuseoPark's program: thematic meetings, educational workshops, historical demonstrations, audio guides with the choice of a "children's" visit with games or an "adult" visit, a games library for children aged 3 to 8... Immerse yourself in the heart of the battles and be surprised by the impressive reconstruction of the Roman fortification lines. A life-size immersion!

An emblematic statue
To commemorate the end and the success of the research undertaken at Alesia, Napoleon III commissioned the sculptor Aimé Millet to build a colossal statue of Vercingetorix. This 6.60 meter high work in copper plate was erected in 1865.
And a Gallo-Roman site open for more than 100 years!
After the defeat of Vercingetorix, the oppidum continued to be occupied. A prosperous Gallo-Roman town developed, thanks in particular to the activity of craftsmen specialized in bronze work. It was abandoned in the 5th century. The population can be estimated at a few thousand people. The heavily excavated remains correspond to the foundations and buried structures of the monuments and dwellings built over several centuries.

Un incontournable si vous passez dans la région.
Il n'est pas très grand mais très interessant, ludique et pédagogique. Puis avec le billet nous avons accès gratuitement aux vestiges gallo-romains qui sont un peu plus loin dans le village.
Le seul point négatif est le restaurant qui n'est peut être pas adapté, à 12h30 le restaurant était complet, nous avons donc dû prendre la voiture pour manger à l'extérieur puis revenir finir la visite. Pourtant ce n'était pas un jour de grande affluence.
Nous avons adoré l'atelier cuisine qui avait lieu seulement pendant les vacances de la Toussain.
Après la visite du musée nous sommes allés visiter les vestiges gallo-romain et la statue de Vercingetorix qui sont dans le centre du village.
