It is the last village before crossing the border with Panama. It is nothing special and not very pleasant, as is often the case with border towns. If you want to go to Panama, you will be asked to pay a Costa Rican exit tax of 8 US$. Be aware that the customs office is open from 7am to 5pm, but the wait is often long by car. The crossing is quite epic for travelers by bus since you have to cross a bridge next to the railroad, over the river, before getting back on the bus and arriving in Guabito, Panama.
