Make sure your visit to Lawra coincides with the Kobine Festival, which takes place in the first two weeks of October. Apart from this festival, the town seems rather sad. The chief's residence is worth a visit, as it is everywhere. The town lies some 100 km north of Wa, on the Hamile road leading to Burkina Faso. It is well known in the region for its musical instruments, notably balafons and xylophones. Accommodation can be negotiated with the District Assembly Guest-House, which has water and electricity only occasionally.
