Getting to the park without a vehicle is an obstacle course! But if you really want to see the hippos, here's how. From Wa, hop on a tro-tro to Wechiau, then hire a bike to cover the 20 km between the terminus and the park entrance (2h cycling). Two-wheelers can be rented from the Wechiau information center. For vehicular travellers, leave Wa in the direction of the Upland Hotel, turn right at the Vieri intersection, then left. Once in Tavare, continue straight on to Wechiau. Take a look at the centuries-old palace facade.
