The road linking Tamale to Wa bisects the village. Just 6 km from the park, Larabanga, a small village of 4,000 inhabitants, is an interesting stopover for tourists wishing to immerse themselves in the life of a small Ghanaian village. Its name derives from the village's Arab founder, Larabanga, which is said to be a distortion of Larabawa, meaning "the Arabs" in the Hausa language.Larabanga can only be offered to tourists with a slightly adventurous spirit. The rooms offered here are far from comfortable. But they are far more welcoming than a hotel. A number of ecotourism development projects are currently under study, to ensure that the money from this industry benefits the local people. Since 1992, the local population has been lobbying foreign embassies in Ghana, asking for aid and raising Larabanga's profile. As early as 1995, Peace Corps volunteers came to help build a school. Today, the aim is to set up "home-stay rooms" so that tourists can stay for a few days and easily interact with the local population. The Salia brothers are pioneers in this field. From a strictly tourist point of view, in addition to the "Larabanga Mystic stone", which is found at the exit of the village and is said to have supernatural powers, we'd like to take a look at the village mosque.
