The Dutch have a talent for combining the old and the new and de Waag is a perfect example! It is the old public scale built according to the plans of Pieter Post, author of the town hall in Maastricht and the Mauritshuis in The Hague. Built between 1667 and 1657, it replaces a previous wooden scale. Classical in style, this is where merchants weighed their products before selling them for centuries. Today a restaurant is housed in this establishment. A place to visit.
