5/5
1 review

A trendy little address in the town centre, in the shade of a small terrace away from the hustle and bustle. The Mafate Café offers typical Reunionese dishes, such as morning rice, and good "lontan" cakes: chocolate sweet potato fondant, Creole pâté, chocolate banana cake... Traditional ingredients are also used to create new recipes such as the delicious manioc waffle or the chocolate dakatine cake, creations that are well worth a visit. If you prefer, you can have them delivered or take them away.

To the east of the same street, the food market offers fruits and vegetables from the Hauts (bringelles, chouchous, margozes, jujubes, zévis, tamarins...). You can buy spices (saffron péi, combava, calou-pilé, cardamom, massalé, ginger...) and handicrafts. You can stop at a stand of fresh fruit juice, pancakes or enjoy a Mauritian meal. Even if you don't want to buy anything, take a stroll for the colours, smells and shouts of the vendors. Tourists and Reunionese meet at the small market for this atmosphere!
