Created in 1967, this national park covers an area of 8,000 ha, between 400 and 2,200 m above sea level. The climate is typical of the central zone: Mediterranean, with heavy rainfall in winter and no precipitation in summer. The average temperature is around 17.5°C. Of particular note is the magnificent Chilean palm(Jubaea chilensis) or kan kan. It can reach a height of 30 m and live to be over a century old. Also worth seeing: the abundance of Neuquén robles (Nothofagus obliqua), which can reach 50 m in height. The fauna includes several species of fox and numerous birds of prey.
