The Ngezi Recreation Park covers 6,326 ha, of which 573 ha are occupied by the lake. It is an artificial lake, built in 1945 to supply the Munyati power plant. The landscapes around the lake are formed by marshes, hilly plains and msasas forests. The park is subject to high seasonal temperature variations, the climate is generally hot and dry in summer and can be very cold in winter. Nevertheless, it is an ideal recreational area for water sports and fishing. Safaris are less recommended, although some antelopes and hippos can be seen.
