Cholpon-Ata is the main town on the north shore of the lake. Known to archaeologists for its petroglyph deposits, which have given rise to one of the country's most interesting museums, today it owes its reputation above all to its beaches, which attract Central Asia's finest fortunes as soon as the fine weather arrives. Depending on the spots you choose, you'll find a succession of styles and atmospheres. Hotels and luxury residences have invaded the shores of this little Kyrgyz "Saint-Trop'". A city with its feet in the water, but without losing any of its Kyrgyz character, since the mountains are less than 10 minutes from the city center.
