Things to see and do Koblenz

Ehrenbreitstein Fortress is situated 118 meters above the Rhine, opposite the famous "Deutsches Eck". It is the largest historical fortress in Europe after Gibraltar. Ehrenbreitstein was built by Prussia between 1817 and 1828 as the center of a line of fortifications. The fortress offers an impressive view of the Rhine, the Moselle, the Lahn and the Eifel, Westerwald and Hunsrück mountain ranges. The fortress is part of the entire Upper Middle Rhine Valley and has been on the World Heritage List since 2002.

The Deutsches Eck is located at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers and is a promontory with a statue of Kaiser Wilhelm in the middle. The building is crowned by a very large equestrian statue, with a quote from the Koblenz poet Max von Schenkendorf engraved on the pedestal: "The empire will never be destroyed, / If you are united and loyal! After the fall of the Berlin Wall, three concrete pieces of the Wall were placed next to the monument. On October 3, 1990, the coats of arms of the new federal states were added. A large national flag and the flags of the sixteen federal states commemorate German unity.
