Prussian-era fortress with walls 36 m high and 12 m wide, overlooking the valley.
From the Deutsches Eck, it can be seen imposingly across the Rhine. At 118 m high, it was nothing more than a small fortified castle in the year 1000, gradually enlarged by the prince-electors of Trier who ruled here. But the French destroyed the site between 1799 and 1801. The present building dates from Prussian times. Its walls are 36 m high and 12 m wide. As you walk along, you can enjoy a magnificent view over the valley.
