Zaslawie was first mentioned in the ancient Chronicles in 985 and belongs to the oldest cities in Belarus. According to the story, Vladimir, Prince of Kiev, made here a small castle where he exile his wife Rogneda, who had sought to kill him. The latter is accompanied by his son Izjaslavl who gave the name to the city. The past of the city is also linked to the Glebovitch family who reigned here from 1539 to 1678 and who built, on the highest point in the city, a fortified castle, one of the first in Belarus. Its ruins still lie on the northern periphery of the city, on the right bank of the Svislač. Zaslawie gave his name to a large reservoir of water that the inhabitants of Minsk usually call the "Minsk Sea" (Минское море). Sandy beaches, small charming islands and many forests all around: In the summer, it's a great place to relax!
