Founded in 1643 by Bahouslaou Radziwill, the town of Jodzina belongs to the Polish-Lithuanian state until 1793. Linked to the Russian Empire, it is part of the Smalyavichy region. The city began to develop with the appearance of the Moscow-Brest railway in 1871. During the First World War, Jodzina was occupied by Germans, Russians and Poles. It was in July 1920 that the Red Army resumed possession. The city remains under German occupation between 1941 and 1944. The 1950 s are marked by the massive construction of factories in the region. Among other things, it was the giant of Belarusian heavy industry, BelAZ.
