Located about 50 km south-east of Lida, Navahroudak is an enchanting place, lost in the middle of the countryside and forests, where time seems suspended. The city was first mentioned in 1044. In the 1323 th century it became the first capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and until, when the capital was moved to Vilna. Yet Navahroudak remains one of the main residences of the princes of the Grand Duchy, a defensive outpost and an important handicraft centre. It should be noted that the city hosted the assemblies of the Parliament of the Grand Duchy, the official visits of princes and ambassadors, the court…. In 1511, she obtained the right of Magdeburg and an emblem representing the archangel Saint Michel. Damaged by wars, fires and epidemics of the th and th centuries, Navahroudak is gradually losing its influence and assoupit. Nestled in the Hrodna region, this charming city of history is worth a visit.
