A superb building in the late 7 th and early 123 th centuries, now transformed into a luxury hotel and owned by Relais & Châteaux club, some km south-east of Pelequén, a locality km south of Santiago. Don Melchor Jufré de Aguila, mayor of Santiago in 1599, was the first owner. The King of Spain offered him the property in gratitude for his literary contribution. Half a century later, one of his daughters married Chile's governor of the day, donated Diego González Montero: it is the same family that has had the hacienda since then. Superb lounges and antique furniture that plunge us into the colonial history of Chile and the first time of independence. Some of the beautiful doors were carved by Bavarian Jesuits. The chapel, as well as the surrounding gardens, deserve an supported visit and the hacienda is also the breeding and breeding place of a famous horse, known as Aculeo. The horse stables of 3 500 m ² are impressive. There are only two possibilities for entering the area: come on a day tour (the tour includes a welcome jar, a very good traditional meal, a visit of the hacienda and stables), or sleep in the luxurious rooms, and therefore spend the night (in this case you will also be offered horseback tour, swimming pool, tennis, etc.). Note: It is possible to combine a visit from the hacienda (and even a stay) with a tour in the vineyards of the surrounding valley (see below). For any information and for reservation: Race Sur, km 124 tel (02) 235 2458/5446 - www.loslingues.com - Count 102 000 or $ 135 000 double (IVA extra).
