Isla Negra (which is not actually on an island but on a promontory) is located 4 kilometres south of the El Quisco resort. In itself, the village is not exceptional, but three beaches guarantee a certain notoriety among summer visitors, including the playa de las Agatas, where Pablo Neruda used to steal stones to decorate his house. The great Chilean poet lived here for part of his life, and of the three houses he had invented for himself, this was undoubtedly his favourite. In fact, his tomb is in the gardens.
