23 km north of Ella. Central city of the region, capital of the province of Uva, Badulla is not a very touristy place. Clinging to more than 600 m above sea level, the city seduces nevertheless by its luxuriant tropical vegetation, its sweetness of life and its authenticity. It is the terminus of the railroad line, and several trains make the daily journey from Colombo via Kandy and Ella. It is one of the most beautiful views of Sri Lanka, and discovering the beauty of its landscape and tea plantations by train is an essential part of your trip.
