40 km south of Ampanihy, Tranoroa is a large village that seems lost in the bush. It owes its development to the graphite mine that a South African company has set up at the entrance to the village. The village grocery store is the main restaurant in the area and a stopover for bush cabs. As soon as you leave Tranoroa, past the wind turbines, the track suddenly becomes smooth and sandy again. It is regularly crossed by beautiful radiated tortoises, giving you the opportunity to observe this endangered reptile evolving in its natural environment.
