Nestled between a dozen peaks culminating in 2 100 m, the small town of Usangi is an excellent stopover. The land of the surroundings is very fertile and well exploited, thanks in particular to a traditional irrigation system, with canals and terraces. In or around the town of tree nurseries, brick, workshops for the manufacture of stoves, pottery and clothing. Local farmers also manufacture their pombe, alcohol in Kiswahili. From Usangi, you can make a 4 x 4 loop or take several days steps. Mountains, where a few sorciers still exercise, we can see clearly in clear time the Lake Jipe, down to the south, and all Kilimanjaro. On the hill of Goma there are deep caves, probably dug to serve as a refuge during the tribal wars. Not far away, one box keeps about skulls of Malware chiefs. You can also go to the Forestière forest reserve and climb up to the top (2 112 m, top point of the region), a tray on which you can watch monkeys and a lot of birds. The village of Shigatini has two churches and tombs dating from the first missionaries. This massif is separated from the mountains from the South through the Saami Road.
