Tsavo East and Tsavo West together form one of the largest national parks in the world, covering 4% of Kenya's total area. The western part of the park covers an area of 9,000 km² and is characterized by an arid and rugged landscape, with altitudes up to 1,000 m. It has a network of well-maintained trails. The varied landscape of Tsavo West Park offers exceptional views of the Chyulu Hills, the Taita Hills and Kilimanjaro. The park is home to a wealth of wildlife (lions, warthogs, elephants, rhinoceroses, antelopes, hippos...), but it is not easy to observe. It is also an excellent park for walkers as it offers many opportunities for short walks. We can distinguish two distinct zones in this park. On the one hand, the one north of the Tsavo River, where the majority of the things to see and the lodges are concentrated. The tracks are good, very numerous and allow to circulate easily in a hilly landscape dotted with volcanic cones and small mountains. On the other hand, the one south of the river, vast uniform plain crossed by some endless tracks. It is an extremely wild and little frequented zone, except for the lake Jipe, very in the south.
