This large concession of 1,750 km² bears the name Kwara and borders to the south, with the Moremi reserve, concession NG/21. It thus has access to the generous water areas of the delta, punctuated by a myriad of islands, but also, to the north, to the immense dry lands appreciated by the large fauna of the Selinda Concession. Kwara is thus rich in two very different environments. In the south, the Moanachira River complex, with its deep, sometimes rapid, deep-water channels with papyrus and reed banks, and its lagoons with calmer, shallower waters, populated by aquatic grasses. In the north, the drier lands. Moving away from the river, the transition is gradual, as the once floodplains slowly become covered with shrubs and brush. Clusters of trees emerge here and there, evidence of the ancient islands, from which salt deposits have also disappeared. This is an example of the slow transformation of the delta over centuries and millennia. Since 2008, the rights to the concession have been purchased by the Kwando Safaris company, which has three luxurious and intimate camps there. Prefer the dry season - from April to November - for mammal watching and the summer, the wet season - from December to March - for bird watching in the delta. Dilemma? No. You will only need a little more patience during the game drives in the rainy season. In addition, an excellent compromise can be found from September to November, the breeding and nesting season in the aviary!
