Mudumu Nature Reserve is open to visitors, although there are no facilities for tourists (apart from the Lianshulu Lodge). Its 75,000 ha of land, protected since 1990, is mainly covered by mopane, terminalia, acacia, Rhodesian teak and swampy plains. The unique wildlife that inhabits the banks of the Kwando River (which becomes the Linyanti River when it branches off to the northeast at the southern end of the Zambezi River and then becomes the Chobe River east of Lake Liambezi) and the swamps is protected by the park's statute
