One hour north of Vancouver, Brackendale has held the world record for the concentration of bald eagles since 1994. Village des aigles, and for good reason: in winter, more than 3,000 bald eagles come to feed on the salmon that haven't had the strength to swim upstream to lay their eggs. Christmas is the peak season for this observable spectacle in Brackendale Eagle Park. It is all very well explained at the Brackendale Art Gallery. In addition to its great reputation for eagle watching, the area attracts hikers, mountain bikers, kayakers and also many peaceful holidaymakers who come to enjoy the many coffee shops and small local shops in the village.
