Right in Nootka Sound, the picturesque village of Tahsis offers secluded coves ideal for wildlife viewing, hiking and kayaking. Nootka Sound (Nootka Bay) is an inlet on the west coast of Vancouver Island. In the late 18th century, it was the scene of a major crisis between Britain and Spain over control of American territories bordering the northern Pacific Ocean. The bay is extended by three deep inlets: Tahsis, Tlupana and Muchalat. Several islands are located in its mouth. A boat trip in this bay is a pleasure for the eyes, as much for the landscapes as for the richness of its marine fauna.
