Built in 1960, this small village of barely 2,000 inhabitants, located 89 km west of Campbell River, is a paradise for fishermen and lovers of speleology and canyoning. Nestled between the Gold and Heber Rivers on northern Vancouver Island, the village offers exceptional views of the surrounding landscape. Gold River developed primarily from 1967 onwards, thanks to the region's thriving forestry and fishing industries. The Upana Cave offers a variety of activities suitable for all levels. Climbers come from all over the world to try their hand at Crest Creek Crag, a famous place with nearly 100 climbing routes. A 4300 year old native village can also be visited.
