Moanda is not a major tourist attraction, although you can appreciate the charms of a small Gabonese village: picturesque scrubland, the curiosity of the locals, a typical atmosphere... The town's economy is based entirely on manganese mining, to which Moanda owes the majority of its population. By car, Franceville and Moanda are some sixty kilometers apart, with a succession of plains and sparse forests. The road is in good condition, dotted with potholes, and takes less than an hour to complete. From Franceville, Moanda can be reached by train in around 40 minutes.
