The capital of the Ogooué-Lolo province, Koulamoutou is isolated in the middle of the thick equatorial forest. Thanks to its difficult access, it was spared the ravages of the slave trade. This provincial capital has a good capacity for welcoming visitors, as the Minister of Tourism in a former government, Jacques Massima, was born here. However, hotels open as quickly as they close! Koulamoutou is mainly used as a stopover on the way to Franceville, for walks around Mount Iboundji or to reach Birougou Park in the Ngounié region, but does not in itself offer any particular tourist attractions.
