Also called San Carlos by the locals, Ciudad Quesada, a city of about 40,000 inhabitants, is in the middle of the countryside but does not lack dynamism. There are many shops (around the central park), including leather stores (specialties of the city's artisans!), but also saddlers (equestrian equipment stores), whose craft workshops can be visited. Ciudad Quesada is also an important agricultural center. However, it lacks tourist interest. It is more of a stopover town for shopping on the way to La Fortuna, Los Chiles or Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí.
