The historic capital of the Moray region, it is an ideal base for exploring all of the Speyside distilleries to the south. Elgin has an architecture characteristic of Scottish cities of its time. Its cathedral, a majestic ruin, is in the forefront. Take the opportunity to stroll through the lovely Bible garden next door. You can also visit the Elgin Museum, the oldest independent museum in the country. If you're a car enthusiast, don't miss the Motor Museum. Further on, the seaside resort of Lossiemouth is worth a visit, followed by Duffus Castle. By train, Elgin is 15 minutes from Forres, 50 minutes from Inverness and 1h30 from Aberdeen.
