Better known as Aberlour, Charlestown of Aberlour was founded in 1812 and is named after Mr. Charles Grant of Elchies. This tiny town has a worldwide reputation thanks to not one, but two products exported and acclaimed internationally. The first is whisky. Many distilleries are located in the village and its immediate surroundings: Aberlour of course, The Macallan Distillery, Knockando, Cardhu, Dailuaine, Glen Grant, Glenallachie. There is also a museum dedicated to the art of cooperage. Other products are the cookies of the company Walkers Shortbread, exported in over 60 years.
