This small village of almost 5,000 inhabitants, located about 25 km north of Pontevedra, is a spa resort renowned for its therapeutic benefits. Its existence dates back to Roman times, and the many remains found are now gathered in an interesting museum that reconstructs its history. Its sulphurous waters, which can reach 64°C, are recommended for the treatment of respiratory and dermatological diseases such as asthma and psoriasis, among others. In the nearby surroundings there are many traces of older dwellings: petroglyphs, remains of villages, as well as many horreos and religious buildings.
