The town, which is the second largest in the prefecture, has long been famous for forging and metalworking, especially bronze alloys for the Maeda lords of Kanazawa. The bronze bridges and the great copper Buddha (Takaoka Daibutsu) are the pride of the city. The latter is 15 meters high and weighs 65 tons, only that! Do not miss the Takaokakojô park, located at the ruins of the old castle of Takaoka. The city is known to be the city of Doraemon, Takaoka being the birthplace of the duo Fujiko F.Fujio, the creators.
