Just over 45 km north of Escalante, this peaceful village is located at the eastern entrance to Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Inhabited by only a few hundred people, Boulder offers superb views of a large valley and formidable mountain scenery. The area is home to the Anasazi State Park Museum, some lodging and dining options, and a gas station. If you have a vehicle, you can take advantage of a drive through to Boulder Mountain, which has areas near the pass where you can enjoy the distant views below. It's a great place to have a picnic.
