About 100 miles east of Fallon is Cold Springs Station, one of the best preserved stops of the Pony Express mail delivery company. A gas station, store and bar are located on Highway 50, all owned by the same owner. The Pony Express station is a mile and a half walk from there and is, thanks to its remoteness, particularly well preserved. Warning: it is not recommended to go there in summer because of the high temperatures.
