Museum presenting a rich private collection of a thousand objects and documents to learn everything about the manufacture of chocolate.

In the heart of the Venice of the North, the Choco-Story museum is located in the Maison de Croon, a listed historic building. A typical atmosphere, conducive to discovery. The museum was founded in 2004 by the Van Belle family. It gathers a rich private collection of a thousand objects and documents to learn everything about the making of chocolate, from the cocoa pods to the windows of the chocolate makers of Bruges, one of the most famous cities in the world for this fine art of pastry making, through the elaboration of the cocoa paste. Choco-Story takes the visitor through 4,000 years of history (from the Mayans to the present day) and presents the manufacturing methods, the different ingredients and flavors, the links between chocolate and health and the place of Belgium in the sector... In this exceptional setting (the house is classified and dates back to 1480), we were surprised to find a number of quite exceptional old pieces (some dating back to the Mayan era). Amazing! At the same time, Choco-Story is also socially active and finances the Cocoa Development Fund. Fans will appreciate the collection of chocolate cups and chocolate pots. This project's mission is to help cocoa farmers, notably in Cameroon, Cuba and recently in Soconusco, Mexico. The visit ends with the traditional trio of demonstration-tasting-shop. Complete, didactic and captivating, this museum is a reference in the field.

Very teaching + demonstration of dress at the end of the visit!
That we loved the chocolate or is simply curious, this museum learn some us on chocolate. From its original, via its traditions, its accessories and recipes, furnished information interesting and are well presented. A demonstration done by a chef also allows you to be in the atmosphere with a tasting. The only downside: the shop at the end of the visit does not offer enough choice and may disappoint.
