Statue of the painter Jan Van Eyck stands in the middle of a square bordered by several interesting buildings in Brugge
Several interesting buildings border the square where the statue of the painter Jan van Eyck, master of the altarpiece of The Mystic Lamb exhibited in Saint Bavo (Ghent), stands. A few tables on the terrace invite you to take a break. At the corner of Academiestraat, the facade of the Poortersloge (Burghers' Lodge), decorated with statues of former master tailors, blacksmiths, masons, as well as prelates and magistrates. The statues date from the last century, when the building was restored. The bear in the niche is a reminder of the sports brotherhood De Witte Beer.

Très belle place juste à côté de la grand place. On y trouve des bâtiments intéressants ainsi que la statue du peintre.

N'hésitez pas à vous éloigner du centre vers cette jolie place avec la statue du peintre. La promenade le long du canal après la statue vaut le déplacement. Si vous avez le temps, faites une boucle jusqu'aux moulins à vent un peu plus loin à l'Est !
