Tiriolo occupies a privileged position in the center of the isthmus of Catanzaro. In a dominant position on the foothills of the Sila massif, Tiriolo has preserved its medieval character, with narrow streets and stairways that run alongside some palaces with stone porches and wrought iron balconies. At the top of the hill, the ruins of the Aragonese castle, built on the site of a Norman fortress, overlook a spectacular panorama: on one side, the Gulf of Squillace; on the other, the Gulf of Sant'Eufemia, with the Aeolian Islands on the horizon. The village is also known for its traditional women's costumes and local crafts.
