The site is accessible by moving from Catanzaro to the southwest, on SS -106. On this relatively isolated site lies the ruins of a vast religious complex built probably between the Fifth and the century life. The Basilica of Santa Maria della Roccella, also called the Della of the Bishop of Available, was undoubtedly the most grandiose of the basilicas of Calabria. The current structure in the Latin Cross and without roof, probably the work of the basilian monks in the th century, consists of three parts: the terminal part, with three large semicircular apses; the débordant and enhanced transept; a long nave. The architecture of the basilica resembles that of the Cluny abbey, with some Byzantine influence, particularly in the ornamentation of concave niches.
